Thieves with Laundry Bags Force Rite Aid Store Closure

“They come in every day, sometimes twice a day … and just load up on stuff.”

A Rite Aid in Manhattan has closed its doors, ostensibly due to persistent thefts that included shoplifters who left the store with laundry bags full of merchandise, The New York Post reports.

Staffers told the outlet that more than $200,000 in merchandise was stolen in December and January alone.

“They come in every day, sometimes twice a day, with laundry bags and just load up on stuff,” an employee told The Post. “They take whatever they want and we can’t do anything about it. It’s why the store is closing. They can’t afford to keep it open.”
