Besner, Joel – President and founder of Marijuana Media
Joel began his career in media working at BPA Worldwide, measuring audience data of b2b magazines, then moved into the systems-side of publishing as Director at Hallmark Data Systems, selling database, email, and software solutions to b2b publishers. He left Hallmark to launch Marijuana Media in 2015, bringing his experience in email marketing and database management to the marijuana industry, to offer lead generation services for companies looking to reach marijuana business operators. Joel lives in Los Angeles with his wife and young daughter, who refers to Marijuana Media as “Daddy’s flower business”.
Carpenter, Greg – President, Specialty Lighting
Greg Carpenter is owner and President of Specialty Lighting. Since acquiring the company from Philips Lighting in 2009, he has been largely responsible for developing long-term growth strategies and continually reviewing and enhancing the company’s product offerings. A solutions provider first, Specialty offers power distribution, controls and other electronic products and services in addition to lighting. Greg is a hands-on leader and enjoys working shoulder-to-shoulder with his staff each day. He believes his success is the result of collaborating with his team of fun, intelligent, innovative & creative talent to achieve the complete satisfaction of each customer. Leading by example, his attention to detail and quality remains consistent throughout the company’s design and manufacturing processes. Greg is an active member of Shop! and currently serves on the Producer Council.
Chalonec, Andy – Founder, Cost Caddies, Founder, retailPONY
Andy, a graduate of the Wharton School of Business, is a veteran expert in Digital, Marketing, Merchandising, and Procurement. He just spent close to 10 years at PepsiCo as an executive working on brands including Doritos, Gatorade, Quaker, Mountain Dew and of course Pepsi. Previous experience of his includes working at advertising and media agencies, CPGs, and an investment bank. Along with Jerry Fox of Bish Creative, we are inventors of Social Merchandising™.
Claassen, Neal – Business Strategist, Sevenpoint Interiors, a division of Visual Elements
Sevenpoint Interiors, a division of Visual Elements created to service the legal cannabis industry. Neal recognized the scope of this industry very early on. SEVENPOINT presented the first cannabis themed booth at Globalshop, and have gone on to build many cannabis stores including various first stores in many states and provinces. The SEVENPOINT brand is extremely well recognized and respected in the cannabis industry.
Neal is also the co-founder and creator of the PAVE Globalshop Design Challenge; a North America wide initiative bringing brands, students and manufacturers together to discover new design talent in retail.
Fox, Jerry – President, Bish Creative Display
Jerry Fox began his career with Bish Creative in 1985 and became the President/CEO in 2000 leading the company to its current position as a global leader in creative in store merchandising with offices in Chicago, NYC, Miami, LA, China, and Paris. For over 60 years, Bish Creative Display has been the leader in design, development, creation and innovation of award winning merchandising programs; from temporary, semi-permanent and permanent displays to complete store within a store concepts.
Herman, Karen – President, Gustie Creative
Karen Herman is an experienced commercial designer and disruptive retail strategist. With a professional career that began in New York City, working with renowned design and architecture firms and for major brands like Calvin Klein and KPMG, over the past 25 years she has completed many small-to-large scale design projects throughout the US and abroad.
Receiving an award for her Strategic Stores concept video during Global Entrepreneurship Week in 2011 inspired her to found Gustie Creative, a full-service boutique design firm specializing in Disruptive Retail, Retail Design Strategy and Design Innovation. Her latest entrepreneurial venture is the launch of Create Disruptive Retail, the premier online design platform for disruptive retail solutions for brands, businesses, agencies and non-profits. Karen is an active member of the RetailWire BrainTrust and a contributing writer to Simply the Best, Off-Price Retail and HFN Digital magazines.
Miner, Sean – Associate | Trade & Customs, KPMG LLP
Sean is with KPMG’s Trade & Customs practice in the Washington DC / Tyson’s Corner office. Sean has strong knowledge of trade policy with significant experience analyzing global trade issues. Sean has helped clients assess the impact from the Section 301 tariffs and implement tariff mitigation strategies. Sean has also advised companies in import and export compliance. He has authored numerous publications on trade and investment policies, especially relating to US-China economic issues, free trade agreements, and the World Trade Organization during his five years in DC think tanks: the Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE) and the Atlantic Council.

Patti Stensrud is the Business Development Manager at Higher Environments, a division of Stylmark. Patti specializes in developing and selling retail and interior design fixtures to clients who strive to improve their customers experiences whether in store or in their work environment. She has over 25 years of manufacturing experience in the areas of anodized aluminum fabrication, cold rolled and stainless-steel fixtures as well as strong history in LED lighting technologies for showcases, light boxes, lighted mirrors, and architectural applications.
