Amazon, Nike Considering Peloton Acquisition

Both Amazon (Seattle) and Nike (Beaverton, OR) are evaluating whether to make a bid for Peloton Interactive (New York), Reuters writes, citing original reporting from Financial Times and The Wall Street Journal.

Amazon is speaking with advisers on how to proceed, while Nike’s considerations are “preliminary” and hasn’t yet held talks with the exercise bike maker, the article says. Peloton, for its part, hasn’t decided on whether it will explore a sale.

Peloton has experienced a drop in demand for its connected fitness bikes and treadmills since the peak of the pandemic. Last month, the company said it was evaluating the size of its workforce and “resetting” production levels.
