GSTQ (New York), a direct-to-consumer apparel brand founded by entrepreneur Dany Garcia, has opened a pop-up shop at New York’s famed Rockefeller Center. GSTQ Rock Center, at 45 Rockefeller Plaza (10 W. 51st St.), is set to be open through mid-January.
This is the brand’s third pop-up, following locales in New York’s SoHo and Atlanta. The newest locale comes on the heels of the brand’s first New York Fashion Week presentation last month and offers a size-inclusive apparel collection assortment for women and men displayed on mannequins and in wall recesses.
“The in-person connection is important to our brand and for our community to come together,” said CEO Katie Mayne. “Consumers get the advantage of experiencing our fabrics, clothes and premium feel in person. We will be using this store as a test model for future brick-and-mortar build outs and wholesale partnerships. We are elated to see this project come to life and for the growth of our brand as we expand into lifestyle.”
According to the retailer’s website, here’s how the brand got its name:
“The inspiration for GSTQ had been with founder Garcia since she was a 15-year-old in the high school band playing ‘God Save the Queen.’ Moved by the reverence so many people could have for one woman and inspired by the power of an individual to make a positive impact on others and the world. She remained committed to that belief into adulthood, when, unable to find a wardrobe that served her athletic physique and entrepreneurial lifestyle—and empowered her to be her best self— she knew she had an opportunity to change fashion not only for herself but for people everywhere. And so GSTQ the brand was born.”
