Macy’s, Anne Klein Team Up on NY Pop-Up

Macy’s (New York) is partnering with WHP Global’s Anne Klein brand to host a holiday pop-up shop in New York’s SoHo, the retailers announced via email to Retail Dive.

The shop, at 542 Broadway, showcases styles from Anne Klein’s latest apparel collection, including evening wear and everyday clothing.

Since WHP Global acquired Anne Klein in 2019, the fashion brand has worked with Macy’s to expand its reach. In 2021, the department store introduced Anne Klein’s new home collection, including comforter sets, washcloths, towels and decorative pillows. That was followed last year by a furniture collection.

Under WHP, Anne Klein counts such companies as Bonobos, Babies R Us, Toys R Us and Express as sister brands. Macy’s also partnered with Toys R Us in 2021 to create shop-in-shops in 400 stores, and by the following year, accelerated that partnership to every Macy’s location.

Meanwhile, a buyout offer the department store chain reportedly received earlier this month is still lurking in the background for Macy’s. Two major Macy’s investors – Arkhouse and Brigade Capital – are in talks to take the department store private in a $5.8 billion deal, The Wall Street Journal first reported earlier this week. But thus far, none of those parties has commented publicly on the potential deal.
