The former CEO of Bloomingdale’s (New York), Tony Spring, has officially taken over as Macy’s (New York) CEO as of Sunday, Feb. 4. Spring replaces Jeff Gennette, who is retiring after 40 years with the company. Gennette plans to stay on with the company as Board Chair until at least this spring.
Spring spent 36 years with Bloomingdale’s, most recently as Chair and CEO. Over the past year, in addition to overseeing Bluemercury and Bloomingdale’s, Spring was the CEO-Elect and President of Macy’s, leading its digital, merchandising, customer and brand teams. In addition to being a member of the Executive Committee for the National Retail Federation (NRF; Washington, D.C.), among other robust volunteer work, he’s also Chair for the NRF’s Foundation.
