Best Buy top eco-friendly store chain on Barron’s roster

Companies of all stripes are continuing to pursue a “circular economy” to cut waste and pollution. To identify the companies leading the way in such measures in the U.S., Barron’s magazine teamed with Calvert Research and Management to find the top 100 publicly held firms achieving the highest cumulative scores across 230 environmental, social and governance ratings (ESG) metrics, ranging from workplace diversity to greenhouse-gas emissions.
Here are the retailers on the list, with their rankings:
- # 7 Best Buy (Richfield, Minn.)
- # 21 Walmart (Bentonville, Ark.)
- # 27 Kroger (Cincinnati)
- # 30 Lowe’s (Mooresville, N.C.)
- # 49 Williams-Sonoma (San Francisco)
- # 67 Target (Minneapolis)
