A Texas Two-Step by Outdoor Retailers

* Bass Pro Shops (Springfield, Mo.) has unveiled plans for a new destination store in College Station, Texas. Slated to open in 2028, the Outdoor World store will have 100,000 square feet of space. That location, along with another slated to open in Abilene in early 2027, will give the brand 20 stores in Texas. (The Abilene store is a Bass Pro Outpost, a smaller-scale version of the brand’s retail concept with 72,000 square feet of space.)

* Scheels (Fargo, N.D.) has opened its latest store, in Cedar Park, Texas. The 300,000 square foot flagship mega-store, located on Austin’s north end, is the employee-owned chain’s second locale in Texas (the first is in The Colony, north of Dallas) and 35th overall.
