Mocha Mousse: Pantone’s Color of the Year 2025
Brown hue expresses ethos of “thoughtful indulgence,” consultant says

Color consultant Pantone has unveiled Mocha Mousse as its Color of the Year for 2025. The company describes the tone – officially designated as Pantone 17-1230 – as “a warming brown hue imbued with an inherent richness that nurtures with its suggestion of the delectable quality of cacao, chocolate and coffee, appealing to our desire for comfort.”
The Pantone Color of the Year is often incorporated by interior designers and other creatives into environments and products to reflect the current ethos.
“Underpinned by our desire for everyday pleasures, Pantone 17-1230 Mocha Mousse expresses a level of thoughtful indulgence,” says Pantone Color Institute Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman. “Sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace aspirational and luxe.”
