Taiwanese Restaurant Makes Canadian Debut

Din Tai Fung Restaurant Group (Taiwan) is unveiling a new name and logo at DTF, a premium dining destination opening at 1132 Alberni St. in Vancouver, B.C. This is the first Canadian locale for the 165-unit chain, which is known for its Xiao Long Bao—delicate soup dumplings handcrafted with 18 signature folds.

“DTF is rooted in generations of tradition, of handcrafted food, warm hospitality and cultural connection, and we can’t imagine a better city than Vancouver to carry that forward,” said Co-CEO Albert Yang.

Capable of seating more than 300, project participants say the design – by Rockwell Group (New York) – reflects the brand’s “Taiwanese heritage and local flair through thoughtful details—from a dumpling expo kitchen to custom lanterns and a serene, garden-inspired entrance. … Every detail has been thoughtfully crafted to celebrate Taiwanese roots while embracing the richness of Vancouver’s diverse cultural scene.”

The restaurant will have its soft opening with a limited menu from April 24-May 4, with its official grand opening on May 5.
