* Martin’s Super Markets has unveiled a major refresh of its store in Granger, Ind. Updates to the Heritage Square Martin’s — located at 7355 Heritage Square Dr. — include a new Martin’s Side Door Cantina, a refreshed deli layout, a redesigned full-service floral department and an expanded meat and seafood department. Martin’s is a regional grocer with about 20 stores in northern Indiana and southwest Michigan, and is a unit of C&S Wholesale Grocers LLC (Keene, N.H.).
* Meijer (Grand Rapids, Mich.) will open its fourth smaller-format store in its home state on Aug. 19. The 75,000-square-foot grocery store, at 33500 Seven Mile Road in Livonia, will bring “a streamlined shopping experience to the area, offering convenient access to fresh, high-quality groceries and everyday low prices,” the company said in a news release. Meijer also operates 125 supercenters and market-format stores across Michigan and 500-plus stores total.
* A former Macy’s department store in the NewPark Mall in Newark, Calif., will be reborn early next year as a T&T Supermarket (Vancouver, B.C.). That 72,600 square foot locale will be the Asian-focused chain’s fourth store in the U.S. – earlier this month, it opened its first locale in California, in San Jose, and it also has two stores in Washington state. In addition, T&T operates 37 stores in its home country.
