Jewelers Mutual Group announced that CEO Scott Murphy will retire at the end of 2026 after 12 years leading the Neenah, WI-based insurer. Mike Alexander, currently the company’s president, will succeed him as president and CEO effective Jan. 1, 2027. Murphy will remain on the company’s board of directors.

Murphy joined Jewelers Mutual as CEO in January 2015, after working as an executive partner at insurance consulting firm Triad Analytic Solutions. During his tenure, the company grew from a specialty insurer into a broader platform of insurance and technology-driven business solutions serving more than two million customers across the U.S. and Canada. Last year, Jewelers Mutual expanded into Australia through its acquisition of Jewellers Loop.

“Leading Jewelers Mutual has been the greatest honor of my career,” Murphy said in a statement, adding that he is “proud of what our team has built” and looking forward to what Alexander will accomplish.

Alexander joined the company in 2015 and was promoted to president in 2025. He worked closely with Murphy on the company’s technology and market expansion strategy, including the Jewellers Loop integration and the launch of the JM Care Plan. As CEO, he said he plans to focus on expanding into new markets, building out the company’s digital and technology capabilities, and growing its portfolio of solutions for jewelers and consumers.

Jewelers Mutual, founded in 1913 by a group of Wisconsin jewelers, is headquartered in Neenah, WI, with additional U.S. offices in Dallas, Miami and Raleigh, and international offices in Toronto and Sydney.
