Macy’s Store Hit by Jewelry Thieves Days After Announcing Closure in Hawaii
Doors and several jewelry cases were broken
Jewelry thieves hit a Macy’s store in Hawaii only a few days after an announcement that location would close.
About $20,000 in merchandise was taken in the burglary, which happened at just before 4 a.m. Monday, HawaiiNewsNow reported.
The store is located at the Kukui Grove mall in Lihue.
Kauai police were alerted to the crime by a glass break alarm. Doors and several jewelry cases were broken.
Macy’s announced earlier this month that it would close five stores across the country, including the Lihue location. The company is also cutting 2,300 jobs across the U.S.
