The just-opened Round1 Bowling & Arcade (U.S. HQ: Cerritos) includes a first-of-a-kind Japanese food hall on its first level. Located in the Pacific View mall in Ventura, Calif., the new entertainment/dining complex has a YUU Japanese Food Hall, which brings restaurants based in that country to the U.S. for the first time. (See the news release for the full list of those dining experiences.)
The name YUU comes from the Japanese word for “play,” and the venue is built around that idea, project participants say. With the food hall on the first floor and Round1’s bowling, arcade games and other attractions in the same building, guests can go from dinner to a full night out without leaving Pacific View.
“These 14 restaurants entrusted us with offering their dishes, and we’re excited to welcome the Ventura community to gather and experience a taste of Japan close to home,” said Akira Ide, President and CEO of Round1, whose parent company is based in Osaka, Japan.
Overall, Round1 operates about 60 bowling/arcades across the U.S.; most offer such items pizza , mozzarella sticks, jalapeno poppers, chicken tenders, fries and nachos, while some also offer such Japanese fare as gyoza and teriyaki bowls.
