Canada Update: Denny’s, Nintendo and Super Miniso

* Denny’s Canada (Vancouver, B.C.) has opened its latest diner-format restaurant, at the Southland Mall in Regina, Saskatchewan. The franchise locale is Denny’s second diner in Regina and fifth in Saskatchewan. (Such spaces have smaller footprints than the chain’s traditional restaurants, owing mainly to a condensed back-of-house layout and less seating.) The Denny’s nameplate in Canada is owned by Northland Properties Corp., which also operates the Chop Steakhouse & Bar and Moxies chains, along with several hotels and resorts. * Nintendo (Kyoto, Japan; North American HQ: Redmond, Wash.) will take the wraps off its first North American store-within-store in downtown Toronto on Oct. 17. The 1500-square-foot space is located inside EB Games’ flagship store at 267 Yonge St. Merch at the store will include Nintendo Switch 2 hardware and software, Nintendo-themed displays and merchandise and playable demo systems. It will also offer a selection of My Mario merchandise exclusive to the Nintendo space.

* The first Super Miniso stores are opening in Canada this month and next. Those spaces, which feature themed displays and extended experiential spaces, are set for Mississauga, Ont., Winnipeg and Montréal. the retailer said in a news release. Also on tap is a Miniso Land store in Toronto, which the retailer said will focuse on IP-inspired merchandise. Offerings at the stores include Hello Kitty and Friends, Mofusand and Marvel products.
