Dior (Paris) has opened a multilevel luxury store in Tokyo’s Daikanyama district. Dubbed the Dior Bamboo Pavilion, the French fashion house describes the new, 19,375-square-foot space as “a fusion of culture and craftsmanship.”
Some notable touches along those lines: the store’s exterior is inspired by Japanese bamboo forests, featuring wood dyed in a gold hue that’s lighted at night, and an interior featuring Versailles-style parquet flooring and ceilings and walls finished in washi paper.
The store’s offer includes women’s and men’s apparel, accessories, bags and small leather goods, shoes and jewelry. The retail space also presents various furniture designs by such Japanese talents as Sho Ota, Hana Mitsui, Takt Project, Ayumi Shibata, Chikaken and we+.
In addition, the complex houses a café decorated by floral artist Azuma Makoto and serving a menu by Michelin-starred French chef Anne-Sophie Pic. Surrounding the building is an outdoor garden following Zen principles by landscape designer Seijun Nishihata.
