Luxury house Givenchy (Paris) will soon open its first permanent store in Los Angeles, in a building designed by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright in Beverly Hills, report a variety of publications, including Complex. The 8000-square-foot space, at 332 North Rodeo Drive, will replace a nearby temporary spot the retailer had occupied
Givenchy’s move into the famed space will take place in two phases: First, a retail portion with 4500 square feet will open its doors this month. A second phase, meanwhile, isn’t set for a rollout until next year.
Givenchy’s move into the Wright building marks the first time the entire space will be used by one tenant, Complex notes.
“For Givenchy’s first permanent store in Los Angeles, it was important to select a space that would resonate with our brand,” Valerie Leon, President of the Americas at Givenchy, said in an emailed statement to the publication. “Given Hubert de Givenchy’s love of art and architecture, the Frank Lloyd Wright building felt like the right choice, and the opportunity to bring Givenchy to life there was inspiring.”
The Love Beverly Hills website offers these details about the Wright building, which is known as Anderton Court:
“Rodeo Drive’s three-story concrete shopping complex, Anderton Court, was designed by groundbreaking architect Frank Lloyd Wright and was his only retail space built in Southern California. In contrast to Anderton Court’s stylish neighbors, the building features a unique hexagonal floor plan, an angular V front and is topped off with one of Wright’s trademark Streamline Moderne and Art Deco styles. The design is based on a diamond grid pattern that he created with an inverted ‘v’ which can be seen throughout the building. Its unusual parallelogram-shaped central ramp leads you to a great stopping point for an aerial view of the bustling Rodeo Drive.”
