When it comes to the biggest franchises in America, fast-food chains and convenience stores rule the roost. Just one store-oriented operation – Ace Hardware – breaks the top 10.

A couple of items of note: While McDonald’s tops the list when it comes to total revenues, #2 7-Eleven has nearly double the number of locations of the burger behemoth. Also: the popularity of Chick-fil-A is evident in its placement on the list, coming in 6th with just 2981 locales – #7 Subway, by contrast, has 37,133 units.
