T&T Supermarket Heads to California
Loblaw’s Asian grocery brand sets San Jose debut

Canada’s T&T Supermarket Inc. (Richmond, B.C.), continues its U.S. expansion, unveiling plans for its first locale in California. Slated to open in fall 2025 in Federal Realty’s Westgate Center in San Jose, the new store will join two other locales the chain has in the works in Washington state.
The 55,000-square-foot store in San Jose will occupy a former Walmart location. It will feature a BBQ counter, noodle station, dim sum and street food section, hot food bar and a made-to-order Chinese crepe station.
The store will also house an in-store bakery with freshly prepared items such as mochi puffs, egg tarts, Hong Kong-style pastries and customized cakes, and will offer the chain’s private-label products, including pineapple cakes, Taiwanese sausages, soup pork dumplings and green onion pancakes.
“We aim to create a destination,” said CEO Tina Lee. “It’s a place for discovery, innovation and bringing people together through food. We want to evolve our grocery store beyond the functional – we want to be the place where people want to go, not just need to go.”
T&T Supermarkets is the largest Asian supermarket chain in Canada, operating 30-plus stores in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec. T&T Supermarkets was founded in Vancouver, B.C., in 1993, acquired by Loblaw Cos. Ltd. in 2009, and is now led by second-generation successor and CEO Lee.
