* PCA Cos.’ Beautyspace unit (New York) will open its first Little Luxuries store on Sept. 10 in New York’s Union Square. The flagship, Beautyspace’s first brick-and-mortar locale, will be “devoted exclusively to premium mini and travel-sized beauty products travel-sized products from more than 100 brands, rewards toward eligible full-size products, discovery-driven experiences and in-store recycling,” the company said in a news release.

Located at 872 Broadway, the store will offer skincare, haircare, makeup, bath and body, fragrance, beauty tools and accessories. Designed by Keffer Studio, the 765-square-foot flagship “gives each mini the architectural prominence typically reserved for full-size products,” the release states. “A Neapolitan-inspired palette of soft pinks, creams and warm browns defines dedicated fragrance, skincare and haircare zones, while mirrored chrome islands spotlight individual items. Hand-blown glass pendants (created with HB Lighting) bring warmth and craftsmanship to the space, and oversized magnifying glasses in the storefront windows offer passersby a playful introduction to the world of minis.”

“Opening our first brick-and-mortar store is an exciting milestone for Beautyspace and a natural next step for the business,” said President Noah Rosenblatt. “Minis have evolved beyond simple travel solutions into powerful tools for discovery, trial and long-term brand loyalty. Little Luxuries brings that opportunity to life as a standalone destination, connecting in-store discovery with full-size redemption on MyBeautySpace.com to create a seamless journey across physical and digital channels.”

* Ikea (Malmo, Sweden) has opened handcrafted miniature homes at stores in Melbourne, Australia, and Chengdu and Beijing, China. Those installations mark the launch of Ikea open house, an in-store experience “showing how small, affordable changes can help people make more room for what they love,” the home furniture retailer said in a news release.

“People usually don’t aim for the perfect home, but the one that feels easier to live in,” says Javier Quiñones, Global Commercial Manager, Ingka Group (Ikea). “We’re putting even greater focus on creating a better everyday life at home and making sure the solutions we offer are accessible and affordable.”

To bring this idea to life, IKEA partnered with Stockholm-based miniatures artist Christopher Robin Nordström to create the in-store mini-homes. Built entirely by hand at a 1:12 scale, each home reflects the rhythms and character of the city where it appears. In Melbourne, Ikea’s Billy bookcase holds tiny novels and art prints, alongside subtle references to the city’s sporting culture. In Chengdu and Beijing, the brand’s Metod kitchen cabinets and cupboards take center stage, illustrating how homes are shaped by different cultures, routines and priorities.

“When you build in miniature, you can’t include everything,” said Nordström. “Every object has to earn its place. You quickly realize that a home isn’t defined by how much it contains, but by the things people choose to make room for.”
The mini-homes will be open through the end of September.
