Obituary: George Martin, formerly of Patina-V and George Martin Design
George Martin passed away Sunday, Aug. 25
The Shop! Association is saddened to announce the passing of George Martin, Founder of Patina-V, and Principal of George Martin Design.
The son of an American father and a Honduran mother, George spent his early childhood in Latin America before earning a degree in architecture from USC and completing his advanced studies in London. After holding executive positions in companies such as May Company California, J.W. Robinson’s and Greneker Intl., he founded Patina-V in 1987, a visual merchandising and mannequin company with showrooms worldwide, and acted as VP of Design and Presentation until 2011.
George served as President of the Board of Directors of the Copan Maya Foundation and held a number of advisory roles across several institutions and groups, including the AIDS Project Los Angeles, Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, Pasadena Playhouse and AIDS Service Center, Pasadena.
George passed away due to natural causes on Sunday, August 25, surrounded by his family.
