Automation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are being heavily utilized for loss prevention at major retailers, according to a new study by Zebra Technology Corporation.
The study found that 87% of retail leaders say that AI and automation are significant tools in their loss prevention efforts.
However, while retail leaders see new and emerging technologies as a help, frontline retail teams are reporting more hindrances in their day-to-day operations – 88% of associates report challenges in obtaining timely assistance or information (up from 82% in 2024). Though, with the right technology, 87% of associates believe effective, helpful technology does make their work more enjoyable and more efficient to help customers.
“Retail’s future belongs to those who connect the physical and digital worlds through intelligent workflows,” said Matthew Guiste, Global Retail Technology Strategist, Zebra Technologies. “With AI, automation, and improved workflows, retailers can reduce loss and deliver the fast, seamless, and personalized experiences that today’s shoppers demand.”
