White Castle Deploys Robots to Make Its French Fries

White Castle (Columbus, OH) will roll out a robotic solution to make its French fries at 100 of its standalone stores, Chain Store Age reports.

It’s the expansion of a pilot program the fast food chain began in September of 2020, the article says. Called Flippy 2, the robot automates the work of a fry station. The benefits, White Castle says, include optimized staffing during late-night shifts for its 24-hour restaurants amid a nationwide labor crunch, as well as heightened attention from employees on front-of-the-house operations and order fulfillment for delivery and takeout.
