Home furnishings giant IKEA U.S. (Conshohocken, Pa.) has unveiled plans to open four additional stores this year, in Chicago; Tulsa, Okla.; Fort Collins, Colo.; and Los Angeles. That’s in addition to the six locations for 2026 it previously announced. (Those stores will be in Huntsville, Ala.; University Park and Rockwall in Dallas; Phoenix; Chantilly/Dulles in the Washington, D.C, region; and Houston–Webster, Texas.)

The U.S. unit of the Sweden-based retailer disclosed the latest four openings in its 2025 Annual Summary covering Sept. 1, 2024, to Aug. 31, 2025.

“FY25 was a year of meaningful connection and growth despite a challenging external environment,” said Rob Olson, Interim CEO of IKEA U.S., which currently has 54 locales. “We strengthened our ability to serve customers through new store formats, digital innovation and expanded rewards, all while reinforcing our commitment to communities and the environment. Looking ahead to FY26, we will build on this momentum, focusing on continued investment in the U.S. to make IKEA more affordable, accessible and sustainable.”

Last year, the seller of build-it-yourself furnishings opened 14 new retail locations, including two small-format stores, in Arcadia, Calif., and San Marcos, Texas. Beyond that, it also opened nine Plan & Order Points with integrated pickup services in such markets as Charlotte, N.C.; Roseville, Minn; and Ontario and Colma, Calif.

In a separate announcement earlier this month, IKEA said it will close its store in Memphis on May 3. The retailer said it considered such factors as market share, business performance, cost structure and overall optimization of physical assets in making that decision. The locale had undergone a major renovation last year in an attempt to boost its prospects.
