Massachusetts Jeweler Pattie’s Jewelry to Close After 45 Years
Owner Sherrie Erlenmeyer took over the Winchendon store from her mother, who started out hosting door-to-door jewelry parties.
Pattie’s Jewelry in Winchendon, MA, is preparing to close after 45 years in business, owner Sherrie Erlenmeyer announced in a Facebook post on Oct. 28.
The store was founded by Erlenmeyer’s mother, Patricia “Pattie” Homon, who got her start hosting door-to-door jewelry parties in 1980, MassLive reports. Erlenmeyer worked alongside her mother for years before taking over the business in 2001.
“Carrying her legacy forward has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Erlenmeyer wrote.
She described the shop as a community gathering place where customers became friends and “many became like family,” and said that while the decision was difficult, she is looking forward to the next chapter of her life.
The store, at 15 Central St., carries diamonds, pearls, watches and bridal jewelry, with lines including Galatea, Citizen, Camelot Bridal and the Cape Cod Collection. It also offers engraving and laser inscribing.
No closing date or reason for the closure has been announced, though comments on the Facebook post suggest Erlenmeyer is retiring, according to MassLive.
